Talofa lava! Ben served in Fatuvalu, Savai’i from 2008 to 2010 as a Village-Based Development Worker. During his 27 months, he worked with the village mayor, chiefs, women’s committee, and village schools on environmental conservation, public health, education, and income generation projects. Stewarding the village mangrove conservation project was the centerpiece of his service but his proudest moment might be, after considerable work on several interlocking projects, when his village was awarded in the 2009 Samoa Beautification contest. By undertaking in Peace Corps’ mission of educating villagers, and promoting a better understanding of Americans, he developed core principles and lasting friendships.
Ben is a native Tennessean and practices law in Knoxville.
