Brant miller
Honduras 1975-1977

Brant served as a Forester in Campamento and Jutiapa, Honduras from 1975-1977. He helped manage the predominantly pine forests of Olancho alongside his Honduran counterparts in COHDEFOR, the newly-formed Honduran Forest Service. His duties included reforestation, monitoring timber sales, forest inventory and research. Brant grew up in New York State, where he graduated from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. After the Peace Corps, he worked as a forester with the USDA Forest Service in Southeast Alaska, after which he moved to Nashville to pursue a songwriting career. He eventually returned to forestry with the state of Tennessee and Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. Since retiring, he has been active in writing and performing his songs, as well as volunteering for local environmental and social causes. He lives with his wife Patricia on five acres surrounded by over 300 trees they planted.
